Coniston portfolio company FMC, the leading media and software platform in UK dentistry, has acquired SmartDental to support its expansion into the HR space. Following the acquisition, FMC has launched Dentistry HR, a platform tailored specifically for UK dental practices and groups. The solution is designed to streamline rota management, improve visibility, enhance team communication, and simplify people operations.
Dentistry HR brings key functions into a single, integrated system, helping practices operate more efficiently and with greater clarity as they grow. The acquisition marks a significant step in FMC’s strategy to expand into new verticals and broaden its service offering in the dental sector.

The transaction was led by Alfred Chambers and Beatriz Geraldes. FMC and Coniston were advised by Browne Jacobson (Mike Jackson and Matt Dorman).
Coniston originally backed the MBO of FMC in September 2023 and FMC completed a £4m growth round in April 2025. SmartDental is the fourth acquisition that FMC has made in partnership with Coniston as the business continues its expansion into dental services.
