Today the private equity firm Coniston Capital (“Coniston”) announced its inception and the intention to raise a maiden fund.
Headquartered in London, Coniston was co-founded by Amit Hindocha and George Tsangarides after they recognised a gap in the UK private equity market for an investor focused on smaller MBOs. The pair bring over twenty years of private equity experience to Coniston, having previously worked at Mobeus, BGF and LMS Capital.
They are supported by Non-Executive Chairman, Stephen Grabiner, who led the Global Media Team and the London Practice of Apax Partners, and Non-Executive Director, Ken Sanker, a serial entrepreneur and investor into UK SMEs.
Coniston will focus on the smaller MBO market which has been underserved since being vacated by VCT investors. Coniston will be investing up to £5m in established SMEs with profits greater than £250k.
Alongside the fundraise, Coniston is actively recruiting two more investment professionals to support the team in its deployment strategy across the UK.
Amit Hindocha, Partner, comments, “I am delighted to announce the launch of Coniston Capital. It is an exciting opportunity for us to work alongside ambitious management teams who have been unable to access private equity capital to support their growth plans”.
